Silver on the blink of roping Ghanaian player

Lilongwe based Super League side Silver
Strikers are at the verge of signing Ghanaian
youthful player Sawo Saiwo following his
impressive performance in a couple of
friendly matches. Moving of the club’s hit
man, Chawanangwa Kaonga, to
Mozambique in his pursuit for greener
pastures, has motivated them to find a
replacement.
Saiwo’s golden moment during the trials
came when he scored an equalizing goal for
Silver who were trailing Zomba based
military side, Red Lions, in a preseason
match.
Silver’s treasurer, Fled Karonga has
confirmed to the nation newspaper about
the move.
“We are delighted with his performance that
in any day from now, we will be signing him
since we can see a replacement for
Chawanangwa Kaonga in him.” Kalonga has
also talked about their beefing up of their
squad with players from their reserve side.
He admitted that currently their sole
problem is in goal keeping as they do not
have a good goal keeper after the departure
of Charles Swini to Mozambique.
The capital city giants are targeting next
season’s Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM)
Super League title which they missed last
season having won it three consecutive
times. Should the move to sign Saiwo
materialize, who will be the only foreign
player in the domestic leagues.
